Meeting Clients Where They Are: Psychoeducation as a Starting Place for Relationship Work
Rae Littlewood, PhD
In most practice settings, therapists can't always offer a full EFT protocol to every client who wants help with relationships. Additionally, many clients request practical skills they can use right now, rather than long-term therapy. How can the therapist still provide the value of EFT to clients in these situations?
This presentation shares one therapist's approach to using psychoeducation to help clients view and organize their relationships through an EFT lens, so that they can choose their responses rather than simply react. Participants will walk away with tools to help clients name their fears, see their patterns, and repair disconnection.

Assessing Couples Using an EFT Framework
Rae Littlewood, PhD
Assessment sets the stage for treatment, but starting work with a new couple can feel intense. The volume of emotion, interaction, and meaning in the room can be difficult to contain and organize. In this presentation, you will learn how to notice, organize, and stay grounded in a couple's complexity. By developing the core EFT skill of gathering information and “tracking the cycle,” couple therapy becomes more focused, less overwhelming, and even enjoyable. Learn how to use EFT assessment skills to serve both as a validating witness and confident guide for couples seeking relational change.
Special Learning Opportunities
In addition to quarterly gatherings, NMEFT offers training & learning opportunities on special topics throughout the year. Events are selected to add practical and immediate clinical value to therapists, and may cost an additional fee for members. Past events include our EFT Externship, Core Skills & shorter workshops on specific topics designed to deepen clinical skills.
