The Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) Externship, developed by Dr. Susan Johnson,  is an immersion into the science and power of attachment, emotion and relatedness that can shift the way you understand couples in distress, and change the way you work with families and individuals. This is an experiential and didactic training  that will help your success in your clinical practice as well as strengthen relationships in your own life!

This is an official EFT Externship, endorsed by the Center for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy (ICEEFT).

About Dr. Robert Allan 

 

Dr. Robert Allan has more than two decades of experience helping couples, individuals, and families improve their most important relationships, health, and well-being. He has been practicing psychotherapy since 2004 in a variety of settings including community mental health, hospitals, employee assistance programs, and private practice, and is an Assistant Professor of Counseling at the University of Colorado Denver. In his private practice, he works with individuals, couples, and families dealing with issues such as anxiety, depression, infidelity, adjustment to life transitions, trauma, addictions, and couples struggling in their relationship as well as others.

About Dr. Lisa Palmer-Olsen

 

Lisa J. Palmer, Psy.D. is a licensed marriage and family therapist in San Diego California. She is a Certified EFT Trainer and Supervisor and is a Founder and one of the Directors of the Emotionally Focused Couples Training and Research Institute at Alliant International University. Lisa completed her dissertation research on how to train and teach Emotionally Focused Couples therapy to professionals. Dr. Sue Johnson, the founder of EFT and Dr. Scott Woolley were part of her dissertation committee. Dr. Palmer-Olsen’s primary clinical and research interests are in the areas of couple and family therapy; specifically with those couples and families dealing with trauma and attachment related struggles. She is an AAMFT clinical member and approved AAMFT supervisor. Dr. Palmer-Olsen is also co-founder and clinic director for the Alliant Couple and Family Clinic (ACFC), San Diego-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit therapy clinic.

Cancellation Policy

Refund requests will be honored up to 30 days. All refund requests will be subject to a $100 processing fee. No refunds within the 30-day cancellation, but transfer of funds to the following externship year or core skills registration will be considered on a case-by-case basis. CE Credit

Earn While You Learn! This Externship can earn you 28 Continuing Education credits. The training virtually fulfills the biennial continuing education requirement for license renewal for social workers, licensed counselors, psychologists and marriage and family therapists.

Requirements

To participate, you must have the training and educational qualifications to legally practice as a professional mental health practitioner in the area I live OR be currently enrolled in formal training to be a professional mental health practitioner.***

***Participants must be familiar with and abide by professional and legal confidentiality requirements regarding all client information shared in the training. Certification in EFT is offered by ICEEFT based on completion of all requirements and demonstrated competence in the model. Completion of training does not guarantee competence or certification. Enrollment in this training constitutes an agreement to hold harmless The San Diego Center for Emotionally Focused Therapy, the Training and Research Institute for Emotionally Focused Therapy (TRI-EFT), and all presenters and trainers from any and all claims, actions, and judgements, including all costs of defense and attorney’s fees incurred in defending against the same. I have read and agree to follow the terms for participation.

Confidentiality: You must agree to keep confidential the personal identifying information of case material shared in the training. I agree to not record any part of this training in any format (audio, video, or visual). Personal written notes of non-confidential material are permitted.
